From the early rock art of the Neolithic period to the graffiti works of the 21st Century, people have been driven to make their mark in visually stunning ways. We learn many things about the life and culture of these mark makers by studying and enjoying their designs, which record the everyday life of another time and place. Making Marks is committed to creating artworks, which, in the future, will give an insight into our lives and times.

MAKING MARKS - ARCHITECTURAL & PUBLIC ART COMMISSIONS

Making Marks works with architects, landscape architects, regeneration partnerships and local authorities to create art works for the public domain. An essential element of our commissions is consultation - involving the public not only in voting on an overall design but also contributing with their images and text. Making Marks responds to and, as appropriate, integrates the interests, ideas and desires of the local community and our clients into long lasting, beautifully designed and skilfully produced pieces of art.

MAKING MARKS - PRIVATE COMMISSIONS

Making Marks also works with individual clients who wish to commission artwork - memorials, stone carvings, commemorative plaques and garden pieces, for instance. We specialise in realising the desires of our clients, encouraging them through dialogue and consultation to explore with us the purpose of the piece, the location and, if a memorial, the life of the person being celebrated. Making Marks incorporates these elements into our designs, to create a highly personal and expressive piece.

MAKING MARKS - COMMUNITY ART

Making Marks works with schools, colleges, local authorities and runs workshops enabling people of all ages and backgrounds to explore their creativity and create a personal or group piece. We empower them to explore different media and express themselves in creative and imaginative way.
